Resources for UConn students

The University of Connecticut has an extreme range of resources to assist students in becoming better applicants, applying to both national and local scholarships, fellowships, and grants, and some resources which provide students with funding. Because there are so many excellent resources it can be hard for students to know where to begin, and whom to speak with first. In fact, students often have the wrong impressions about which offices advise students, which offices actually award funding, and other related topics. Here is a list describing the distinctions between some of the major resources available on campus.

This link will lead you to the main scholarship page for the OSFAS, which provides information for both new and continuing students, faculty and staff, and provides a link to external scholarships, which include opportunities for international students and a place for private scholarships to be posted. If you aren’t sure where to start in your scholarship search, this may be a good place to begin. If you click on “New and Continuing,” it will lead you to a list of scholarships separated by school and department, as well as external and state scholarships.

For students on Co-op, those pursuing a second degree, or in active duty military, you may be eligible for certain benefits, or can request accommodations.

Many programs and scholarships, such as the Young Innovative Investigator Program, are seeking to support the pursuits of students of underrepresented minority groups. This link provides guides and resources for African American and Hispanic or Latino students, as well more information about the YIIP.
